At that time, the engine had been rebuilt once. It was bored .30 over, Holley 650 4 bbl, leaking headers, Edlebrock
Performer intake, and high compression camel hump heads (unfortunelatly the previous owner did not think to replace the valve
seals, which resulted in my current engine).
Oct/Nov (?) 1991- replaced starter after chewing off all the teeth! Tow bill #1
Two weeks later- replaced water pump (I will not discuss my speed at the time of failure :) Tow bill #2.
Nov 1991- new Stereo...cut the dash despite dad's advice...now a $130 mistake.
December 1991- Accident #1
I learned why nobody drives these in snow! The large tires at the time acted like pontoons on a catamaran.
I ski'd into a ditch going down a hill with a curve. Damaged front end. Able to push myself out..no tow bill.
April 1992 (?) - Accident #2- NOT MY FAULT- A tow truck backs into me while parked on the side of the road.
May 1992- Front and rear damage repaired, also fixed a paint crack at the quarterpanel seam while at the body shop.
Spring 1993- New brakes.
Spring 1994- Engine starts sputtering, as water comes out the tail pipes. Driven for a few weeks before the inevitable
happens. Another tow bill. Also noticing bulges in the tires....
Summer 1994- Start of the engine rebuild. Dad convinced me to return it to stock. Unfortunately the engine
block had a crack. Failure caused by soft valve seals (used for leaded fuel, not unleaded) >:(
Fall 1994- Engine rebuild complete. 350, bored .30 over, competition cam, stock everything else (including new
exhaust).
Fall 1994- Accident #3- NOT MY FAULT -rear ended by unattentive driver!
A few weeks later...I strike a curb and shred a tire (remember the bulges?). Another tow bill and 4 new
tires.
January 1995- Replaced front seat vinyl.
Spring 1995- New weather stripping from Soff Seal.
Spring 1995- Bad ACCIDENT #4, roll over on wet curvy road. Completely my fault. Tow bill, and enormous body
shop repair...insurance almost totaled the vehicle for a loss, but the body shop cut a few corners for me to keep the quote
low. They worked on it in their spare time for a year, and fixed all the major problems...
Spring 1996- out of the body shop and into storage
1996-2003- moved in and out of storage periodically. Driven less than 100 miles. Out of college, married,
with a house and more importantly a garage to finally call my own. I brought my baby home on May 26, 2003 (also my anniversary:)
Now that I actually have an income I will start the restoration, stay tuned...
